LYRICS I've been searching in my house - for something I can't find Cos I'm not sure quite what it is - this thing that's slipped my mind From my window I look out - search the sky to see If there lies a clue - beyond the clouds - that's gonna hold my key Always felt unsure - feels like something isn't right Like a fish I just consume the bait - no matter what I bite Spinning for a thrill on the wings of my windmill Moving all the time - even when I'm standing still I'm clinging to the notion....I retain my own free will CHORUS The right question (searching still) The right question (and I know) The right question I will find (I've a long way to go) The right question (It's gotta be there) The right question (deep in my bones) The right question I will find (got to know, know, what's going on in my mind Well I'm not looking for answers - don't tell me what's what Don't want to be reminded - about the facts I forgot Cos there's something more important, that I feel I've missed Just like I felt immediately after my first kiss No this may take a lifetime - but that is all I've got To find what I am looking for whether I like it or not Cos I keep coming back to thIS thing on my mind And one day I might just get it And the right question I will find DOUBLE CHORUS AND FINISH
2.
LYRICS I know it's a cliche - but this time it's true You were right when you said, 'It's not me - it's you' And every time you turn around and look at me that way I don't know where to hide - don't know what to say CHORUS Oh well it's time to blow the whistle on me You deserve more than I can guarantee I've tried and I've tried to be good company And now it's time to blow the whistle on me Love means nothing, when it's a loser's game And the stakes don't seem high - when you're dealing the pain But for those who just sit tight - pretending everything's alright They'll gamble all or nothing - on foolish dreams, the could have beens CHORUS Oh well it's time to blow the whistle on me You deserve more, you deserve honest I've tried and I've failed so miserably And now it's time to blow the whistle on me And now it's time to blow the whistle on me And now it's time to blow the whistle on me And when you know down deep inside There's no place left to hide The roses had their day The colours fade, the view is grey And when you know it's the time - the time to say goodbye I don't know when I lost the way Chorus and finish
3.
LYRICS Sometimes I feel good - forget the pain And then I remember - ooh that's its just, just the same I do my best, to sit back, and play that losing game Oh but it kicks back and it hurts me Cos I'm Loving you in Vain CHORUS What can I do or say To make you look my way Seems such a shame but it's still the same Cos I'm Loving you in Vain I can see the sense in changing - we all have to grow And I know that we weren't really meant for each other Now I'm letting you go But in case you might want to see me - just to meet again Well don't worry baby, I'm right here cos I'm Loving you In Vain CHORUS Tell me what to say To stop me from going crazy Tell me what to do To stop me from loving you ooohhhhh DOUBLE CHORUS AND FINISH

My New Crush 03:44
LYRICS You don't know that I think of you a lot You don't know how I feel Can't see how I care I won't lay myself bare Even when my fate seems yours to seal Know you don't have a clue about my feelings for you It might surprise you or scare you to know Your the focos of my obsession - I even thing of you as my possession To do with - whatever I want to I don't know how I hide - how much I'm out of sorts I'm weary with all my inappropriate thoughts CHORUS And when I think of you, it makes me blush And I think about you, much too much If I had less control, I'd let it all go Cos youuuu you you are my new crush Yes you you you - are my new crush It's ok, it won't last Not if it's like those in the past When I thought i could not adore - anyone else more that my heart would never beat this fast So for now I'll hold on to these feelings so strong My secret feels so right Cos it also feels so wrong CHORUS AND FINISH
5.
LYRICS Look out of the window, it's such a rainy day Postman comes to tell me, I've got bills to pay And all the telephone does is ring and ring But i don't pick it up because I've nothing to say I haven't brushed my teeth yet, I don't think I'll get dressed Will I do anything today, well that's anybody's guess Cos all my heart wants to do is sing and sing cos I've got and man - who's such a lovely thing yeh I've got a man - who's such a lovely thing CHORUS Feels like I'm flying so high - like a bird in the sky Floating around with my head in a whirl Dancing in my kitchen just like a giddy girl Cos I've got a man who's such a lovely thing yeh I've got a man, who's such a lovely thing
6.
LYRICS A little can mean a lot - that's how are defined One tiny thought going round in my mind Like the time I laughed at someone else's pain safe in the shadows of the voyeurs game The law of attraction has a lasting effect How many blind eyes do I turn - to a world I just don't get? CHORUS How fair is fair? How we judge who we care for? Who decides who is there for? How do we choose who wins, and who has to lose? For one tiny action can have a lasting effect The blind will lead the blind into the arms of regret tell me How fair is fair? How we judge who we care for? Who decides who is there for? Is it the favoured or the fallen - who holds the key? Do I smile back at the mirror....like an innocent child? Ooohh I just can't see What lies behind the eyes when I look at me OOhh how fair is fair How we judge who we care for? Who decides who is there for? Is it just the lucky few - like you, like me Smiling into the eyes of complicity? Bedding down with greed and dishonesty... I'll shake that hand.... Yes I'll lick that hand that feeds my reality And I'll smile back - when I look at Me
7.
LYRICS We've been off and on for a long long time Each time it's the other, changing their mind But something's just hit me out of the blue And when I woke up this morning I knew just what to do CHORUS I've got to send you a letter, or maybe a card To say I'm feeling better, I'm not working too hard A text or an email, just won't do Cos when I woke up yawning, I just knew Yes I woke up this morning in love with you All this time we've wasted being indecisive fools Who know we could just break all our limits, our rules? I know you feel the same, I know you feel it too And when I woke up this morning I knew just what to do CHORUS BRIDGE Both of us so foolish, blinded by our pride It's taken us so long to see what's right in front of our eyes Let's not ask for forgiveness for what we've been through Cos it's time to give ourselves what is long overdue.. CHORUS AND FINISH

My Sister 03:48
LYRICS I was sheltered by the shadows of my road less travelled I took the easy way Stayed out of trouble Avoiding pain was the name of my game For I knew better, than my sister Whose bravery never set her free Her weary path took her to places I'll never see, I'll never be CHORUS For if I stumble and fall it won't bother me at all For there's always someone there to carry me And her flame that burns so bright Will guide me through the night Take me back home With her I'm never alone BRIDGE And if I should see, one day ahead of me Hazy dreams brushed to the side Who knows My destiny May be the way for me.. Or for the girl, behind who I hide? CHORUS For if I stumble and fall it won't bother me at all For there's always someone there to carry me And the flame that burned so bright Will guide me through the night Take me back home With her I'm never alone Chorus 2 Because she believes in me Understands the way I want to be Will never walk away or leave me on my own And her flame that burns so bright Through my darkest night Taking me home with her I'm never alone x 3

Tell Me 04:28
LYRICS It started yesterday I made a comment You looked away I knew - right away I was wrong but what did I say? CHORUS Tell me tell me tell me Tell me what to say Oh tell me tell me shout it in my ear What's not good and what's ok? Don't walk away baby don't give me the sack I didn't mean to hurt you don't look at me like that Cos all I need to know is how to make you let this go Tell me tell me tell me loud and clear I'll try anything, I'm not proud Just tell me what to say - for crying out loud Please baby please - I'm begging you I've done it again - but what did I do?! CHORUS AND FINISH
10.
LYRICS You say you love me - and then you sigh It's like an endless kiss goodbye I wait a life time - for you to share It's only secrets - we go nowhere If I could only walk away If I could only leave My body's strong - but my heart But my heart but my heart But my heart is so weak You say you love me - and then you sigh Then you turn and laugh and I know you lie Always pretending I'm ok Much better things to do With my day You say you love me And then you sigh It's like an endless The longest Kiss Goodbye Come on Save Me Come on Save Me Come on Save Me Just let me go Come on Save Me Come on Save Me Come on Save Me Just let me go

YesToday 04:04
LYRICS And now it's today....yes now it's today.... If someone asked me yesterday About the way I feel The things I like to do How I like to be If someone told me yesterday That today I'd be changed That today I'd feel so differently In ways I can't explain If someone told me yesterday What I'd do last night I'd laugh a bit - I'd be alright And now it's today Yes now it's today Yes now it's today If someone asked me yesterday Which I would prefer Would I take familiar - would I take new? Would I want the same? Or would I want you?

The sun - looks down A red and orange crown Our kite - so high Comes tumbling from the sky Your eyes, your eyes the night shines in your eyes And the moon and the sand And the starts and the sea Oh so many notes Playing in my head Every word - waiting to be said You're here - you're here You're here right next to me I've got all that I need I've got moonshine on the sea CHORUS Oh I've got a song in my heart Haven't been able to stop it right from the start I've got some beautiful notes in my head Play that melody - it's sweet sweet music to me And if it's love that makes me sing Every word, every line, everything I'll just keep thinking of you, cos that's the part Of the song that I sing in my heart

Time is a healer - we all know But the mind plays tricks - it wanders high and low It will go over, things left to rest Now you're neglecting that rose Pinned to her dress Mine is to dwell - in my deepest darkest hell But crack are appearing, I'm starting to tell The pain that is with me - today I know I'm saying goodbye This friend has to go CHORUS And I was just fine when I met you And I will be fine when i forget you Now is the time, it's time For you to slip from my mind CHORUS 2 And I hear the trees gently swaying In the breeze - the're just saying Go find you rhythm girl, find your song Go on, move on And I was just fine when I met you And I will be fine when i forget you Now is the time, it's time For you to slip from my mind Now is the time...for you to slip from my mind......

about

I've been wanting to record an album like this for AGES. YEARS! An album that's different from the usual more jazz albums that I've recorded in the past. An album that hopefully evokes the love I have for my other musical influences - so a more funky, souly, country, rock, pop even - feel then.... But I kept thinking it wouldn't fit anywhere...kept making excuses basically. Anyway now I've done it and I'm reeeeally bloody pleased, happy, relieved... and also extreeeeemely bloody GRATEFUL to all the fantastic musicians who have played and sung for me - they have lifted this album into something I would never have dreamed possible! Bring on the next one...HAH!!

Tracks 2,6 &7 recorded with Keith Angel at Wavelength Studio, Doncaster

Special thanks to Martin at MU Studio where the bulk of this album was recorded - whose patience was probably massively tested, on many levels - especially when trying to decipher the occasional unintelligible but dramatically passionate stream of consciousness that would routinely verbally pour forth..

Special thanks to Steve Beighton for his brilliant horn arrangements that were an unexpected surprise and joy.

Stuart Hukin - for all his encouragement

Phil - just cos

Nicola Farnon - Short Bio
Widely recognised as one of the classiest Jazz and Swing musicians in the UK, Wiltshire born and now Sheffield resident, Nicola has a remarkable musical pedigree, both parents being professional classical musicians and her great uncle no less than the late Robert Farnon. After an early start on piano and cello (grade 8 in both by the age of eleven), she followed her dad's love of the 'standards' into jazz via the double bass and an enchanting voice which was developed during her Performing Arts studies at Middlesex University. Her sparkling trio and quartet appears regularly on the jazz circuit and the band's arrangements are all done by her - with some melodic and extremely catchy originals thrown in for good measure! She has played with such Jazz luminaries as Dave Newton, Digby Fairweather, Jim Mullen, Bruce Adams, Martin Shaw, Roy Williams and Alan Barnes and alongside class jazz acts as diverse as Eliane Elias, Courtney Pine, Georgie Fame,Tony Kofi, Michael Garrick Jazz Britannia Orchestra, Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine, Humphrey Lyttleton and Acker Bilke.
Nicola's performances, with her wide variety of music, versatility and attention to detail, keeps audiences spellbound with classic songs ranging from 1930's to the 1970s. A truly talented singer, Nicola is a class act with a passionate and swinging style, outstanding personality and a charismatic stage presence to match - and an uncanny ability to adapt her performance to captivate and embrace any audience.

Scarborough Jazz Festival
The Nicola Farnon Trio combine first class musicianship with a genuine enthusiasm for being on stage at a prestigious jazz festival. Time and again Farnon’s bass playing swung, her winning vocals a delight.

Durham Jazz
Ms Farnon is everything a performer should be; accomplished, communicative and effervescent, her expressive voice a delight. [She] writes her own material and gives it 100%, winning new fans wherever she goes.

Southport Jazz festival
When your uncle is the highly acclaimed arranger and composer Robert Farnon (arranger for Sinatra and Tony Bennett amongst others) - you'd hope some of that talent might brush off on you.. For vocalist / double bassist Nicola Farnon it certainly has..
